My Saturday Night

Tina's birthday is this week and of course I need to buy her a present.  Seeing as I'm 1.) Broke, and 2.) Trying to save money anyways, I made the decision to make her a gift instead of buying her one.  Due to her lack of common sense, there has been an ongoing joke for a few years about her ability to make colors.  Sadly, she really is unaware how to make the color green from two primary colors.  For a couple years now we've all said that she needs a color wheel to learn her colors.  Thankfully, I have artistic ability and bought a canvas, and some paint for about $10.  Her birthday present this year will be a large color wheel LOL.

So Saturday night I did nothing except paint.

Usually on a Saturday night I am out with my Four Pack, but this weekend I decided to spend some time with myself.  And I found myself being proactive about making her present, so I sat my butt down, turned on Pandora and started mixing up some paint.  Not like I was sitting down to paint the Mona Lisa, but I did want to enjoy myself and relax.

My whole life I've always like creating things with my hands....making jewelry  painting, building, and sculpting.  I've always had a joke that if you gave me a glue gun, duct tape, and zip ties, I could build you anything.  Painting for me is like stress relief.  And here's a secret....so isn't coloring, but I'm too embarrassed that CeeCee would catch me one night hiding in my rooming coloring in some ridiculous My Little Pony coloring book or something lol.

I begin to paint...losing myself in the brush strokes.  My music plays in the background and I forget any care I may have.  Along with Pandora, I have all the windows open in my apartment.  The sounds of The Big City also filled my ears.  Nothing could go wrong at that moment.  I forgot about how stressed I've been but then started to wonder what it would be like if I wasn't alone....what it would be like to have a man around again. Is it bad that I was scared about those thoughts??

Hmm, more to think about.  One thing I do know is I'm tired, and tomorrow is Monday. Time to drag my ass back to work for another 5 days.  Is it Friday yet?

The Big City

So as I wrote about a couple nights ago, I now live in The Big City.

Sidebar: Not that I am worried about saying what city exactly it is...but I'd rather not refer to it by name.  I'm sure that one who were to avidly read my blog, could figure it out if they really wanted to.  Either way though, I'm just going to refer to the city I live in as The Big City.

Anyways, yes I now live in The Big City.  Going from a small town back to the city has been a huge adjustment   I lived in this city for 4 years while in college, but I haven't lived here since 2008.  Every time I am driving around, I can't help but feel at home, more at home than I ever did back in my small town.  There is just something about the city that fuels my soul.

But, I'm not alone here.  I have my room mate Cee Cee, and my wonderful friends; Jules and Tina.  We call ourselves "The Four Pack" LOL.  All of us are crazy in our own ways.

My room mate Cee Cee is 5ft of spunky randomness.  Her ADHD always makes for an interesting conversation.  She not only is my room mate, but she owns the apartment we live in.  We actually met on Craigslist when I was looking for an apartment about a year ago.  Oddly enough, we had many things in common and we joke that her and I were destined to live together.

Tina is my best friend from college.  Her and I lived together for 3 years during school and I have to admit, she is one of my closest friends.  We experienced the whole "college" thing together.  This August, I will have known her for 9 years; 9 amazing and crazy years. She is very friendly among men LOL.  Most times she has a drink in her hand and is going through her "little black book" of this city.

Jules is Tina's room mate and best friend from middle school.  I met Jules through Tina and it was only obvious that we clicked right away. Jules and I are the most alike when it comes to how we think.  Our personalities are very much the same and we have the same outlook on life.  People actually ask if we are sisters sometimes because we are both 5'8", long blond hair, and blue eyes.  Jules is the one person I know won't go crazy on me LOL.

So that's my wolf pack.  We're young, crazy, and trying to pay the bills.  I guess I wanted to describe them a little because I want to start including then in my daily blogs.  They are truly entertaining and some of the best friends I could ever ask for.

Allergies Ruin Lives!

So as we all know, it is May and it is the wonderful time of the year where everything blooms...welcome Spring, show us along to Summer.  But, with that calming thought that the Winter is actually over, we have to  deal with the next object.... POLLEN.

For those of you who live in New England, you understand how crazy the pollen can be in the Spring.  For those of you with allergies, I feel your pain.  I've been a complete mess for about a week now.  The sneezing, runny eyes, runny nose, and slight wheeze when I breathe, is all brought to you by Mother Nature.

My allergies are so bad this year, that I can't even get eye make up on.  It irritates my eyes even worse, and due to them tearing so much, I end up wiping all the makeup off anyways.  I wear alot of eye makeup (classy though...not trashy eye makeup LOL...not porn star makeup) and no one at work had even seen me without eye makeup before.  This whole week people keep saying how tired, or sad I look.  That of course means, "Wow you look like shit," in a nice way.  Honestly though, its cut out about 15 min of my morning routine when getting ready for work.  That has been the only upside to this.

I wake up every morning hoping that its better...only to realize that my eyes are once again crusted shut...sorry if that was TMI for some.  It's true though LOL.  One more confession, I'm sitting here typing this with tissues stuffed up my nose.  It's the only way I can keep it from running.  God, I look damnnnn sexy.  I know the neighbors must be peeping on me from their apartment next door thinking, "Let me get some of that!"

Oh well, here's to Summer, who I'd like picture is as a 6' 2", blond haired, blue eyed man, with perfect teeth, a six pack (not beer), and a bronzed tan.  Yes, I'm ready for you Summer!  Hopefully by the time you're here I'll be able to get that eye liner to stay on.

So it's been more than a year...

Wow...

I've been gone too long and I think I'm ready to start this again.

Not that I ever wanted to stop, I just couldn't find the time.

My life has changed...actually it's more than changed... it had done a complete 180.

Sooooo, lets recap:

I got a new job...in a different state.  I great job; a job I love.  And due to the new job, and of course the pay raise :)  I was able to move.  Now, I live in The Big City, in an apartment, with a room mate just one state over.  It's been 5 years since I lived in The Big City and being back feels so good.  I went to college in this city and know every corner of it.  It's a big city...not the biggest... but it's my favorite place to live.  Summer is coming up, and it is the best time to live here.

I work for a hotel that is about a half hour north of The Big City.  It's a larger hotel than my last...more than double the size actually.  The past year I've worked in their sales department...filing, answering the phones, making reservations, and drafting contracts.  It's been the best year of work I've ever had.  I went from working the night shift at a hotel desk for over three and half years, to a 9 to 5 Monday through Friday gig which includes my own office... Not too shabby!  I just look at it as I am learning so much, and I have so many opportunities in the future in this industry.

The heartbreaking thing about all of this...I no longer am able to coach my team.  I had to give it up.  It was such a tough decision, but it was one I had to make.  I miss the team and those girls every day...literally, but it was time to move on.  I've tried coaching a couple other teams out here, but its just not the same.  I didn't have the feelings I did when I coached my girls.  So, I decided to take a break and it definitly was a break well deserved. For the first time in 5 years, I have time to myself again.  It's nice to be able to get out of work at 5 and come home and put pj's on and do nothing.  I'll coach again one day, but for now...I'm taking a leave.

That pretty much sums up where my life is at right now.  Of course there are other things that go along with it, but for surface value, yeah...thats my life right now.

As for plans for my blog... I want to continue to write.  I know I may not get to post every day, but I'd like to start to write a couple to a few times a week.  I miss the online community and reading every one elses' blogs.

Lately, I've just had so much going through my mind, and I keep thinking that the only place I could put them was on here.  So here I go again.

On that note, I'm going to bed...which is something I've never said on my blog before.  Oh, and I love hashtags now... yup, I'm one of those people.

Wow was I in a bad mood or what???

Now that I'm over that 24 hour angry period of my life from last week, I'm ready to smile again...brush my shoulders off, and catch up with life.

How was everyone St. Patrick's day???  Mine was so much fun and just what I needed.  Of course it included friends, drinks, and a very interested pub crawl.  It felt good to be myself again.  I've just been so couped up all winter and coaching/working my life away.  I forgot how much fun my friends can force me to have lol.

::takes a deep breath::

I've been neglecting my blog, and my writing.  I am excited to change that.

Sometimes people just need a high five...to the face...with a chair.

Total annoyance level of on a scale of 1-10 would be a 15.

I've come to a conclusion, when things get tough emotionally for me, I get the feeling of running away...somewhere...anywhere.  I jump into a character that seems to not be myself, one that would do anything for a new life and a fresh start.  One that has the mind frame of, "anything is possible".  As soon as something deters me from being happy, I begin to plan out a different life.  I even go about as to start checking if I can fulfill the idea of a new life; checking my bank account, jobs, transportation, apartments.  I do this until my brain is exhausted or I snap back to reality and remember that it is impossible due to the fact that I'm broke.  Then the feelings of being trapped begin.  I have too much debt (student loans) to ever go anywhere.  There is no way I could ever live anywhere other than with my parents because I'm paying so much in loan payments.

Sounds sad but my best bet is to win the lottery....

I'm back and I mean it this time!

Once again I have been just too busy to even think about writing my blog.  There has been just so many things going on in my life.

So hmm.... lets see....

Because my Cobalt was totaled, I had to buy a new car.  And thanks to the girl who caused the accident, her insurance game me a nice settlement which allowed me to get an ever nicer car than I had before.

I'm officially in love....  This is Smurfette, the new love of my life lol.

Also, on Sunday my team won the state title in their division....for the 3rd straight year!  We actually placed first in all three competitions we went to this year.

This is the plaque on our trophy.

So now that cheering is over for the season and I have a drive able automobile, things should start to get back on track.  I'm excited to have more free time to blog and such.

RIP Lily

I had a wonderful post on Friday but before I could even hit the publish button, my luck once again decided to kick me in the ass, laugh, and run away.  As you can see below, my car is in rough shape...such rough shape that she's been deemed the scary "T" word....TOTALED.  My 07 Chevy Cobalt who's name was Lily for obvious reasons, is now in auto heaven.

While I was driving home from work Friday morning, a girl decided to take a left hand turn out of a side street to my right.  She obviously didn't look to her left before pulling out and hit me on my front passenger side of my car.  She hit me so hard in fact, that she pushed me right into the other lane..... which then resulted in me hitting the oncoming SUV head on.

I had my seat belt on so I had no injuries.  I just have a bruised knee and a sore back, but nothing awful.

So now I don't have a car which sucks.  The accident wasn't my fault so I plan on getting every penny I can from the other person's insurance in order to buy a new car.  Until then, my mother and I are sharing a car or hopefully their insurance will pay for a rental.  We just have to wait for the police report.

The kicker of all this is that the girl who hit me was a 17 year old high school student from the town next to mine and she's on their cheerleading team lol.  We are competing against them this year in our division.  She went and hit the cheerleading coach of the state championship team.....she's shitting her pants lol.  Does anyone else find that kind of funny/ironic?

You've got to be kidding me...

So if my life couldn't be any more stressful right now, I'm sick.  Yup....the start of a lovely head cold.  Stuffy nose, runny eyes, sneezing, sinus pain.  Everyone is getting sick though and it's mostly due to the unusal warm weather we are having in New England.  Today it was 60 degrees here....60 degrees!!!  It was February 1st and I had a tshirt on!!  We are loving the warmness and all, but everyone is so sick.  Its been one night at work with this cold, and I've gone through 2 boxes of tissues and a bottle of hand sanitizer.

I'll just keep chugging along though...until March 4th when cheering is done for the season.  At that point, I plan on drinking heavily and sleeping an entire week away LOL

What do you mean I can't use Photoshop?!?

In November, I bought a new notebook since my old one never wanted to stay on.  Last night I installed Photoshop only to get a lovely error message about halfway through.  After doing some research, I learned that my new notebook can't run Photoshop!  It's something to do with the fact that I have a Intel Atom processor or something...

I'm officially heart broken.

Where did January go?!?!

Ya, so, it's been a while.  I've been rather MIA since I went to Arizona.  I've just been sooooo busy.  Cheering has been intense lately with our competition this year.  I have literally spent the last 2 1/2 weeks watching YouTube videos of cheerleading routines and using Audacity to make their routine music for this year.  Its been a mean cheerleading acid trip hahah.

But yes, I'm back....back in the blog loop.

Before I was throwing into my two week cheering binge, I last updated my blog as I was flying to Phoenix, Arizona.  So let me recap a little about that.  AMAZING!!!  I've never been out of New England before so I was in awe of how different it is out there.  First off, the scenery is unbelievable!  No matter where you are out there, it is a picture.  My friend Tyler, who I surprised by waiting for him in his living room when he came home from work, had to sit down when he saw me because he thought he was going to faint.  It was the first time I've ever seen him speechless.

We went to Sedona, Scottsdale, and Tempe.  I'm not going to lie, I'm very temped to sell everything I own to move out there myself.  I just wish I didn't love my family so much lol.  Well, you know what I mean.  I'm so close to my family that I could not live so far away from them.  Damn them and my strong family values!

So overall....it was the best thing I've ever done for myself and I'm already saving my pennies to go back!  As for the flying thing....yup I did it and lived to tell.  Do I want to do it again, hellll no, but I will if it means getting to go back to this B-E-A-Utiful place!

Below are pictures from Sedona.  It was taken while standing on Bell Rock.  One of the highlights from the entire trip was learning that my cell phone took panoramic pictures!

36,000 feet???

One of my best friends from college now lives in Phoenix...he's been there a little over a year.  Not sure if you read a post I wrote in November sometime but, it was all about my fear of flying.  Hell, I still am scared.  But, guess where I am right now!  I'm 36,000 feet above Haileyville, Alabama right now in a Delta plane headed to Phoenix.  And no, that's not the best part...the best part is that my friend DOESN'T KNOW....SURPRISE!!!  His sister is picking me up from the airport and he has nooooo clue.  I could jump out of my skin I'm so excited. He knows I refuse to fly so he is going to fall over...and I plan on getting it on video.

The things we do for our friends.

Happy New Years 2012

It's been 2012 for about 4 1/2 hours here on the East coast.  This is the first New Years I didn't watch the ball drop.  I spend it sitting a desk in the back office of my work....alone...in tears.  I'm fully aware that life isn't fair and that I'm an adult so I need to do adult things...but my God, it feels awful.  I try so much to figure out what is so amazing about growing up and the older I get, the more I realize that answer is, nothing.  So of course I then try to pinpoint the problem....like,"Is there something wrong with me?"  Which of course, leads to nothing but second guessing, and even more questions that do nothing but leave you more stumped.  Those are the times when you need an OFF button on your brain....or I need one.

Be honest, you have that one friend that just goes on and on about how happy she is and how perfect her life is.  Now be really honest...all you want to do it beat her over the head with a bat.  But why do we feel like that?  Is it because we're jealous or simply because we don't believe her.   All my friends seem happy but are they faking?  Do we all fake being happy, even if it's just a little bit sometimes?  Maybe that's why I tend to not believe others when they say they are happy because, in my mind, no one can be THAT happy.

Yet we sit across from a friend while out at lunch and say,"Things are great right now."  Do we always mean it or do we have to say it because that's what adults do?  We aren't children anymore therefore we have to act the grown up part.  We can't cry and stomp our feet on the floor because someone was mean to us at work.  Instead we have to act professional and let the drama roll off our backs.  In my opinion, the kids are on to something.

::deep breath::

Now that I got that out.....  I apologize for the rant.  Hmm, I feel like all my posts are rants lately.  Sounds weird, but the past month I've had this deep underlying feeling of anger.  I've been angry at people mostly.  Not sure why, maybe this stems with the fact that I quit smoking 3 weeks ago.  Hell, if I'm going to just be an angry hag maybe I should pick up a pack.  Oh wait, I can't anyways because I'm broke LOL.

I need the city...that always makes me feel better.  Operation Boston commence....

Merry Christmas!

Well, it's finally here....

So weird to think that a year has already gone by since my last Christmas.  Wow...how things change in a year.  I was with my ex at this time last year....so happy I'm not with him anymore.  And then I think about to Christmases before that...and how much things change.  Three Christmases ago, I was parting and drinking Sam Adams Winters with Trav.  Strange how we only think how fast time moves after the fact.

Today I will be opening presents, eating lots of food, and spending time with my family.....all 50 of us lol.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Twas the night before Christmas...

Merry Christmas Eve!  I'm sure many of you are gearing up for tomorrow.  Some spend the day finishing their shopping for those last few presents, baking up a storm in the kitchen, or traveling home to see family.

Sadly, I'll be sleeping most of today because I had to work last night and tonight.  It's not so bad though because my family party is on Christmas Day.  I'll sleep today, come to work tonight, go home in the morning to unwrap presents, take a nap, and then go to the family party for food and fun.  I then have 3 days off....omg it's a miracle...3 DAYS OFF!!

So enjoy the hustle and bustle of today....  My opinion: don't rush...the anticipation is just as much fun.

What is wrong with adults??!!?!?!

I'm sorry, I'm about to do a little venting rant...  You've been warned.  If you do not want to deal with my feelings, don't continue to read lol.

So, to set up for my little rant, you must know the back story to this.  I coach cheerleading...I've been a coach for the same high school varsity team for 5 years now.  We compete and have been state champions the past two years in a row.  At tryouts for our upcoming winter season last month, a boy showed up to try out.  He    was in 10th grade and had played football for the high school just weeks earlier.  I found out later that day that he had quit football because he didn't like it and didn't get along with the coaches. I pulled him aside and spoke to him about why he quit and why he wanted to do cheerleading.  He stressed to me that he just didn't want to play football so he never took it seriously and that when he was little he took dance and gymnastics.  He loved to perform and wanted to give cheering a try.  Over the next 3 days of try outs, I was shocked.  He was doing better than most of the girls who were trying out.  In the end, he made the team.  Since then, he has worked just as hard as the girls and has really improved.  He does not know it yet, but he will make the competition team and will be part of our "co ed" 2012 competition team.

Now, with all the said, I can explain the purpose of this post.  Yesterday I bumped into the high schools boys basketball coach, who was also one of the football coaches.  He pulled me aside and told me that the boy couldn't cheer because he was on a social suspension list at the high school.  I was a bit confused, but told him I would look into it.  He then started to get very stern with me and told me that the boy needed to be off the team.  I again assured him that I would speak to the athletic director and take care of it, and even thanked him for making me aware of the list that I knew nothing about. Personally, as a coach I would never interfere with another coach's team.  It is none of my business and who am I to tell another coach how to run their team.  I was a bit taken off guard by the other coach's comments, but took it as a grain of salt.

I went back to the gym where my team was practicing and pulled a senior captain aside to ask her about this list and what that basketball coach had told me.  She said she wasn't sure about this list, but the coach (who is also a teacher) had said something to her a few weeks back about the boy.  Apparently, the coach said that if the boy cheers any away basketball games (the team cheers away basketball games and we take the same bus as the players, but sit together at the front of the bus...we do this for all sports), he wants her to make sure the boys is as far away from him as possible while riding the bus.  My mouth fell to the floor.  What an asshole!

I immediately called the athletic director to tell him about this.  He was rather upset and said he would speak to the coach about it.  I have no idea what will happen, but it better be some kind of disciplinary action against the coach.  This is absolute bullshit.  He's an adult and yet he is talking to high school students like he is one.  "Keep him as far away from me as possible."  What does he think would happen???  Does he think the boy is gay and his gayness would rub off on him or something!?  He's not gay and anyone who thinks gayness "rubs off" of you, should be sent to a secluded island with the rest of the ignorant people in this world.

People wonder why kids are so rude and hateful these days....its because of people like him.  Someone who is a teacher and a coach.  Someone who is supposed to be a role model, yet says such mean things for no reason.  Someone please explain to me what is wrong with people????

I don't care if I had the biggest shitheads in the world on my team, they are MY team and no one is allowed to talk about them like that.  I'm very protective of my team!

Someone tell me, if the school does nothing is this considered sexual discrimination or slander?  I mean, are there any legal battles that could be fought in this situation?  I just want to have my guns ready to fire.

I totally missed the Pink Floyd memo...

While in college from 2003-2008, I was lucky to have amazing friends with amazing tastes in music.  In high school I seriously only listened to what everyone else listened too...you know...the common stuff; Top 40, country, pop, rap.  But in college, I was able to meet so many different people with all different kinds of preferences to music.

Honestly though, because of these people I found the beauty in music.  Sure, I still like to hear a upbeat Britney Spears song once in a while, and yes, it brings back fun memories of being a teenager, but there is nothing like the feeling you get when you listen a song that can only be described as a true piece of art.  I learned that it wasn't about the popularity of the song, or how it somehow made me want to put lip gloss on and dance around in my underwear.  I learned that there were meanings to why that lyric is written that way, or why there is a specific guitar solo during that point in the song.

There was something deeper to certain songs.  They were written out of pure emotion and actually sung by the people who wrote them.  You can hear feeling in their voices and the passion behind their instruments.  They didn't write these songs in hopes that their music videos would make the top ten on TRL... music videos didn't even exist back in the day.  They wrote what they felt, what they experienced, and what they hoped for.

Ok...wow...now to get to the point of this post....which I went a bit of topic with by ranting haha.  Anyways....

At the beginning of November, Pink Floyd re released all of their songs as an "Experience Edition".  I heard about this, but hadn't heard any of the new versions only thinking that they were going to just be the same songs but remastered (honestly, I like the older sounding versions of songs).  Two nights ago while driving into work, flipping through the radio stations, I caught the beginning of the "Wish You Were Here", my favorite Pink Floyd song.  As I listened, I thought about my friend Travis who passed away at the end on September 30th and how much he loved Pink Floyd too.  The song seemed very suiting to how I felt about him.....wishing he was still here.  When it got to about the middle of the song, a violin started playing with the song.  This was a version I had never heard before.

As a child, Travis was one of those young musical prodigies but, when he hit his teenage years stop playing because it, "wasn't cool".  He played with the Worcester Symphony Orchestra when he was only 9 years old.  He played the violin.  Just days before hearing the song that night, I had spoken to his sister about how he had told me about how much he loved to play when he was little.  She then informed me that she was surprised I knew that, seeing as he didn't tell many people about it.  Travis was a rather private person when it came to his childhood.

After Googling this version of the song, I found out that Pink Floyd had originally recorded this version with legendary violin player Stephane Grappeli but, it never made it to the original cut of the song.  The band members thought it had even been recorded over while finishing the album and officially lost.  Little did they know, the recording was sitting in an archive for 30 years until it's discovery and re release at the beginning of November.  Only days after Travis's passing.

I truly believe that in some parallel universe, I got to hear Trav play.

Let the sickness ensue....

Since August, I have not had any time off.  Between working and coaching, I hardly ever have any time for myself or my friends.  Last week I was so excited because I had a super long weekend coming up.  I had Friday night through Monday night off.  No work or cheering for me!  I had so much planned....do some shopping, crafting, and of course see my friends.

But of course...by Friday afternoon I could feel it...just a little....but it was there...in my sinuses.  A dreaded cold!

So instead of having fun filled weekend, I stayed in bed.  I guess you could look at it from the positive angle of, "Oh you needed some relaxation anyways," or, "At least you didn't have to miss any work because you were sick."  Nope...I'm looking at it from a negative way.  I wasted 4 glorious days doing nothing when I could have been doing much better things.

And to make matters worse, I've lost my voice....not completely but, I do sound like an 80 year old man.  I keep thinking that I jinxed myself.  My last post was about how lately I haven't wanted to say much...well now I can't whether I want to or not!  Damn you Karma!!  ::shakes fist at sky::

But of course I'm back to work now....sniffling and answering the phone claiming that I'm a girl to the person on the other end.

Cheers to green tea and Sudafed!

Blah, blah, blah

"Blah, blah, blah".  Three things I haven't been doing much of lately.  For some reason I've come to the conclusion that I enjoy life much more when I'm not talking.  Shit, I can't believe I just typed that.  I've NEVER been one to not want to talk or want to  be heard.  Most times, I'm the one who always puts in her two cents.

The other night while at my parents house, we were watching TV and I realized I didn't say a word to either one of them for almost two hours.  It was wonderful!  All night long at work I talk...to customers, on the phone, to the person I work with and then when I coach during the day, I'm always talking.  The only time I don't talk is when I'm sleeping and 99% of the time, I text rather than make a phone call.  Hmm, the more I think about it, I hate talking on the phone.  Most of my communication is done via text or email.....and I prefer it that way.

So, I'm sitting here rolling my eyes at myself for thinking about how I used to gab 24-7 on my phone in college and even a couple years ago.  Think I'm kidding?  For example, in college I used to sometimes go over my monthly minutes...which were 450.  Now,  have 550 a month (family share plan) and of those 550, I used 48 minutes last month.  I kid you not.... 48!  Sidebar: I used 2,398 texts though......

So on that note, I'm going to shut my mouth more often.  Silence is golden and duct tape is silver.
